The Green Stampede is dedicated to the support of the Oakland Athletics as well as the students of Oakland. Through mentoring, community action, and passionate fan support, The Green Stampede will be a force in the community as well as the Oakland Coliseum.

In the tradition of the majestic green and gold colors of the Oakland Athletics and the elephant mascot which was chosen by Connie Mack in 1901, The Green Stampede wants to be a force in the coming 2006 year.

Green is a rich color, the color of money and success. The elephant is one of the world's most spectacular animals. In Thailand, the elephant is a revered creature. The great general Hannibal used the elephant to cross the Alps and attack Rome. When John McGraw from the hated Giants said that Connie Mack was building his team with a bunch of white elephants (basically that he bought his team from a flea market or garage sale), the rivalry with the Giants was born. Connie Mack chose the elephant and the success of the A's has been continuing since.

Dedicated to the passionate support of our Oakland A's, The Green Stampede is going to represent the A's, in Section 145, in the bleachers. We will primarily be a force on Week Night games throughout the season as well as being a force on the local radio shows.

The Green Stampede wants to celebrate the American League Wild Card victory, 12 Western Division Championships, the 15 American League Pennants, and the 9 World Series Titles of the Athletics. As the 2006 season looks to be very productive, The Green Stampede wants to insure that the voice of the fans will be heard! Every Thursday will be Oakland A's Thursday. All fans of the A's should wear A's gear every Thursday.
